Clouds accompany colder air Friday and Saturday. A few showers are possible late Saturday ahead of a major warmup starting Sunday into next week.
Cool Friday and Saturday; a few showers late Saturday
Low clouds will hang around much of Friday and even most of Saturday, so don’t look for a lot of movement on temperatures Friday. Highs will be just around 40 south to freezing north.
Friday night will be a bit colder with some breaks in the clouds and lighter winds. Lows will fall into the 20s statewide. A few teens are possible in northeastern Minnesota’s typical cold spots.
Saturday will be a bit warmer but overall right near normal with mid-40s south to mid-30s north.

As warmer air surges back north, south winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, making for another blustery day.
That warmer air combined with an upper-level disturbance could touch off a few light rain showers later in the day Saturday. There will also be lingering flurries Friday in northern Minnesota.
A major warmup starts Sunday
Highs Sunday will return to the 50s across southern Minnesota commencing a big warmup.
High temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above normal most of next week as an upper-level high pressure ridge builds in.
Highs will be in the 60s across southern Minnesota and 50 should reach all the way to the international border.
