Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Ice storm through Tuesday night

Welcome back to the weekday updates! I hope you also enjoyed some time off this month.

Weather wise, it’s messy out there. An ice storm will make travel difficult to impossible across parts of the region, the National Weather Service says. A quarter inch to half an inch of ice accumulation is expected. The ice should be winding down by Wednesday morning.

The ice storm warning stands until 6 p.m. Tuesday. West-central Minnesota and southeast North Dakota are most affected, the worst impacts are west of Fargo and Wahpeton, N.D. The weather service says power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and warns folks not to travel. Expect highs in the low 30s the rest of the workweek.

Love the library? You’re not alone: Fargo-Moorhead libraries are seeing a record number of visitors and circulation.

Starting in January, Minnesota workers can accumulate short spurts of time off to take care of themselves or a loved one under a new state law.

My latest: Count down the days until 2024 with the animals that never really left our hearts this year. Take a paws with us as we reminisce.

Events

Now through Saturday is the movie marathon at Moorhead Public Library. Get that critic hat on!

Tuesday night also boasts open mic comedy and holiday lights at the Red River Fairgrounds.
