The sprawling storm system that brought widespread rain to Minnesota the past few days has weakened and is sliding eastward. Its last vestige for Minnesota on Wednesday will be areas of light snow that will track from northeastern Minnesota southwest across central Minnesota to west-central and southwestern sections of the state. Minor accumulations are likely to be less than 1 inch.
Areas south of that band, including the Twin Cities, will have a chance of flurries and sprinkles on Wednesday.
High temperatures Wednesday will be in the 30s statewide. The Twin Cities should see about 36 degrees with a light breeze.
Quiet weather the rest of the week
Thursday and Friday will remain warmer than normal with highs in the 30s all across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Sunshine will be widespread on Friday.
Weak cold front Saturday
A weak cold front from the northwest on Saturday might bring weekend flurries. Behind the front, Sunday will be the coldest day of the next week with highs from the upper teens northwest to mostly 20s. The Twin Cities could have a high near 29, which is still a few degrees warmer than normal for the end of December.
