Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Weathering this weather

Feeling a little like April out there? Warmer air and more moisture is making conditions ripe for minor flooding in Fargo-Moorhead. The Red River flood warning, which lasts until Jan. 4, is not likely to cause any flood-related issues, but a December flood is a rarity.

Some Eastern North Dakota residents had no power Wednesday amid freezing rain that left an inch of ice in some communities. I-29 has reopened. Ice accumulations from the storm were reportedly the greatest in its forecast area since the late 1990s.

A native prairie garden set to be mowed down has been approved for new life from the city of Fargo, the Forum reports.

Wednesday afternoon and evening, from the National Weather Service: “Additional light amounts of moisture, in the form of a mix of snow and drizzle, with temperatures right around freezing, may result in localized hazardous travel through the morning hours [Thursday].”

Patchy fog and highs in the low 30s Wednesday and Thursday.

On this week’s calendar is the Moorhead Public Library’s movie marathon, West Fargo’s Winter Classic on the ice and the Rourke’s holiday market.
