The weekend system will develop snow Friday in the north and west. Snow will expand statewide Saturday. Most of Minnesota will see accumulations with the heaviest along the North Shore.
Snow develops Friday and expands into the weekend
Watch for snow showers to develop in northern and western Minnesota through the day Friday as our weekend system brings moisture to the state. A winter weather advisory is posted for northeast Minnesota Friday afternoon into early Sunday.
It will also pull in some milder air for Friday and Saturday. Highs Friday will be above freezing in southern Minnesota.
Snowfall totals will be the greatest along the North Shore, but a broad area of more than 2 inches of snow should fall across northeast Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin. Totals will drop off farther south.
Heading into next week, temperatures remain above normal through midweek before the cold finally arrives late next week into next weekend. The week looks active, too, with a couple more snow chances ahead.
