Meanwhile, a cold front is spreading light snow into western Minnesota. That front will weaken as it tracks eastward and probably arrive in the Twin Cities area with a dusting Saturday evening.

High temperatures on Saturday will be mainly in the 20s across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The Twin Cities and parts of southwestern Minnesota could reach the low 30s.

Quiet Sunday

Sunday will be snow-free and cooler behind that front. The persistent low clouds will be slow to depart.

High temperatures should range from the teens northwest to around 30 in the southeast. The Twin Cities should hit about 26.

Stormy week coming, mainly south of Minnesota

Winter storms will sweep eastward across the country a few times during the upcoming week. However, most of the snowy action looks to remain well to our south.

Monday could bring a weak impulse with light snow for Minnesota. Later that day and into Tuesday, a major storm will track from the Texas Panhandle toward the Chicago area. Southern Minnesota might pick up an inch of snow at the northern extremity of the storm.

Another winter storm forecast for Friday-Saturday could pass by closer to Minnesota with a better chance of snow for the state.

Much colder by the end of the week

Regardless of the actual storm tracks, cold air building in Canada will spread our way later next week. The Twin Cities could be looking at high temperatures only in the upper teens by about Friday.
