Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Wintry weather week, North Dakota tribal map order

The rest of Tuesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-teens. Wednesday it will snow with a high in the low 20s, plus a chance of snow the rest of the workweek and into the weekend.

Light snow up to 1 inch should start in eastern North Dakota on Tuesday afternoon through sunrise. By Wednesday morning, that same system is expected to move into west centra Minnesota. By Thursday, some areas in eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota could have 2 to 3 inches. The National Weather Service says areas along Highway 200 corridor and north will see persistent light snow through Thursday night.

Be cautious when traveling Wednesday night into Thursday, with drifting snow lowering visibility and making roads slippery.

The NWS also says “frigid air will move into the area for late this week through early next week, resulting in hazardous wind chills at times.”

A federal judge on Monday ordered a new joint North Dakota legislative district for two Native American tribes that successfully argued a map created through redistricting in 2021 violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting their voting strength.

Hope you’re up for a laugh (even if a pity one) this week: Open mic comedy is happening Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

A lecture at the Rourke Art Museum awaits folks on Thursday. It’s called The Donkey King: Asinine Symbology in Magic and Art.

Mark yer calendars and grab a pop for Midwest comedian Charlie Beren’s visit on Friday and Saturday at the Fargo Theatre.
