Wind settles down, but cold continues through Saturday

Yes, that raw northwest wind has finally diminished significantly. The last wind chill advisories in Minnesota, for the northeastern and southeastern corners, are expiring early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will continue on the cold side, but not frigid for mid-January. Afternoon high temperatures will be mostly in the single digits while the southwest should sneak into the low teens. The Twin Cities might flirt with the low teens with a light west breeze around 10 mph.

Light snow possible southwest on Thursday

An Alberta clipper will graze Minnesota on Thursday with light snow for areas south and west of the Minnesota River. Minor accumulations are likely.

Chillier behind the clipper

Colder air behind that clipper will drop our temperatures a bit through Saturday. The Twin Cities will have highs in the single digits on Friday and possibly reach 10 degrees on Saturday.

Then the big warmup

The warmup kicks off on Sunday. Highs from the mid teens to low 20s will be about normal for this time of year.
