The sunshine felt great on Saturday, even though our temperatures were chilly.
The Saturday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 11 degrees. That’s well below the average Jan. 20 Twin Cities high of 23 degrees.
Most of western Minnesota had Saturday highs in the single-digits above zero, with a mix of single-digit and double-digit highs in eastern Minnesota.

Low temps late Saturday night and early Sunday will be in the single-digits below zero across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

The coldest wind chill temps overnight and early Sunday will be in the teens below zero to lower 20s below zero. A few spots in southern Minnesota could see wind chills near 25 below zero at times. Here’s a peek at forecast wind chills at 6 a.m. Sunday:
Sunday highs reach the lower 20s in the Twin Cities metro area and across much of the southern third of Minnesota, with teens elsewhere:

Areas of blowing snow are possible in southwestern Minnesota late Saturday night and on Sunday.
Monday high temperatures will be in the 20s and lower 30s:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 30s on Monday and Tuesday, followed by mid 30s Wednesday and Thursday, then upper 30s on Friday.

Precipitation outlook
Sunday look dry across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Parts of northern Minnesota could see a wintry mix at times Sunday night into Monday morning.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday:
Patchy light snow is possible in Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Tuesday.

Weather nuggets
The official January 2024 snowfall total at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport sits at 2.0 inches through Jan. 20.
MSP airport tallied 2.7 inches of snow in October, which still stands as the highest monthly snowfall total of the 2023-2024 Twin Cities snow season.
