The skies have given us a high of 47 degrees on Wednesday. Expect slightly lower highs this week in the 40s, with a chance of rain Saturday with a high of 47.

Around the state

We’re familiar with road salt in Fargo-Moorhead. But what if we could become less reliant on it? Here’s how.

Hockey fans: USA Hockey, which oversees hundreds of youth hockey leagues across the country, will require neck protectors for all of its players starting in August.

Local news

From the Fargo Forum: Democrat Travis Hipsher has announced his run for governor.

A Fargo man has been arrested after police and the SWAT Team carried out a search warrant early Wednesday morning at the Grand Inn in south Fargo.

Also from the Forum, an investigator from the TV show “Ghost Hunters” will discuss his experiences with paranormal activities at the Fargo Theatre on April 2.

To do

The Frostival is full of events Wednesday, from its massive snow sculptures, Moorhead river walk and Viking Dinner. Friday through the weekend, find a soup cook-off, silent auction and corn hole tournament at the Moorhead American Legion.

Open mic comedy at the Cellar is Wednesday night, with North Dakota State University’s Jazz Festival Thursday and Friday night for $5 and under.
