Winter is back with a vengeance across Minnesota.

Blizzard warnings are up for the Red River Valley until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Winter storm warnings cover much of northern Minnesota. And the Twin Cities and most of southern Minnesota will get a quick shot of snow through Tuesday evening.

Snow and high winds are combining to produce blizzard warnings for the Red River Valley in northwestern Minnesota. Several inches of snow have already fallen and winds are gusting to around 60 mph near Fargo, N.D.

Including the cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Ada, Hadler, Faith, Flaming, Syre, Twin Valley, Halstad, Radium, Warren, Englund, Florian, Stephen, Argyle, Grand Forks, Mayville, Hillsboro, Kelso, Hatton, Portland, and Roseville

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations of up to two inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, West Polk, Norman and West Marshall Counties. In North Dakota, Grand Forks and Traill Counties.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow is causing sharply reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact travel. The cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

A winter storm warning remains in effect across most of northern Minnesota until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Including the cities of Bemidji, Lavinia, Rosby, Mahnomen, Naytahwaush, Waubun, Alida, Ebro, Lake Itasca, Long Lost Lake, Lower Rice Lake, Roy Lake, and Upper Rice Lake

* WHERE...South Beltrami, Mahnomen and South Clearwater Counties.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow is causing sharply reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact travel. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.


Twin Cities rush hour snow

A band of snow is working across central and southern Minnesota Tuesday and will blow through the greater Twin Cities area between about 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Accumulations around an inch or so are likely, especially east of the Twin Cities.
