Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Near-critical fire conditions, slightly colder rest of week

We’re back! Monday wraps up warmly — it reached 67 degrees. The rest of the week won’t quite top that: Tuesday’s high is 58; we will hover around highs in the upper 40s and low 50s through Friday.

The National Weather Service says “near critical fire weather conditions” are occurring Monday evening due to the humidity (around 20 percent) and wind (around 20 miles per hour) interacting.

A new threat assessment team in Fargo-Moorhead will investigate people deemed to be a risk for violence. The task force has been in development for nearly a year.

Vikings fans (Fargo, don’t pretend you don’t count!) — Kirk Cousins is leaving Minnesota for Atlanta, landing another big contract with a well-timed foray into free agency. Cousins agreed Monday to a four-year, $180 million deal with $100 million guaranteed with the Falcons.

The Fargo Forum reports congress has weighed in on the fate of the wild horses at Theodore Roosevelt National Park with a provision directing the National Park Service to maintain the herd.

Celebrate a near-70 degree day with some ice cream? The Moorhead Dairy Queen is open for its 75th season.

Pizza lovers, Happy Joe’s is coming back. The Fargo Forum reports: “The last Happy Joe’s restaurant located on University Drive South in Fargo closed its doors in 2021 after 45 years in business.”

Plenty of how-to community classes are in store this week, including pizza making, beer and cheese pairing, DIY hanging planters, watercolor art, homemade pretzels, coconut squash risotto, Girl Scout Cookies and cheese pairing … we are already hungry!
