Rain south, sunshine north Thursday
A system centered well south of Minnesota Thursday is bringing some needed rainfall across far southern Minnesota, overlapping with areas of severe and extreme drought.
Showers will persist much of the day and possibly mix with snow late in the day into Thursday night. Some lucky spots could receive more than one-half inch in total of rainfall.
Portions of central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities, west to Willmar or so will see highs back in the mid-50s where conditions remain dry with a mix of clouds and sun.
