Fairly quiet weather to round out March

Warmer weather is on its way. Our new snowpack over most of Minnesota will slow the warmup a bit — except over parts of southern Minnesota that continue to have bare ground.

Here’s how the weather should play out through Easter weekend.

First weather disturbance coming Friday

Light snow will spread across northern Minnesota Friday and Friday night. A few inches of accumulation are possible. The snow could become mixed with light freezing rain Friday night.

The Twin Cities will likely see a little rain from late Friday afternoon and into the night.

High temperatures Friday afternoon should be in the 30s in the north to mostly 40s in the southern half of the state. Parts of southern Minnesota could warm into the 50s.

Mostly dry Saturday

Saturday will be a dry day for all of Minnesota except the Arrowhead where light snow will linger into the morning. High temperatures will be from the mid 30s north to the mid 40s south.

Warmer Easter Sunday

Sunday’s high temperatures should reach the upper 40s in the Twin Cities.

Another weather wrinkle Sunday into Monday

Our next weak weather disturbance will spread rain and maybe some snow across about the southern half of Minnesota from Sunday into Monday.

The warmup will accelerate beginning midweek.
