Continuing the turbulent weather trends for Minnesota, April starts strong with a mixture of wind and snow.
On April 2, multiple climate stations reported record daily snowfalls including 11.8 inches in La Crosse, Wis. But the wind has been strong too.
According to Meteorologist and Climatologist Mark Seeley, in Rochester, there were four days with wind gusts above 30 mph with gusts maxing out at 59 mph. Those wind speeds were felt across the state, with at least three cities reporting maximum gusts of at least 44 mph, including the Twin Cities.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer talked snow and wind with Seeley in their weekly weather chat.
