Significant rain will fall across much of Minnesota Tuesday into Wednesday with the heaviest amounts in southern Minnesota. The rest of the week will also be cooler.
Period of rain, thunder and gusty winds Tuesday
We have a wet and windy Tuesday in store across much of Minnesota. Periods of rain and thunder will dominate the weather through the day into Tuesday night. Showers will become more widely scattered Wednesday.
There’s a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) of some severe weather in far southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon and evening. Most severe weather will remain in Iowa but one or two rogue storms could reach areas near Interstate 90.
Rainfall amounts will be significant across central and southern Minnesota, where up to 1 to 2 inches will fall.

In addition to the rain we’ll have very gusty east winds Tuesday at 15-30 mph. Wind gusts will be between 40 and 50 mph.
A wind advisory is posted through 7 p.m. for much of southern Minnesota and along the North Shore.
Winds will be strongest along the North Shore where gusts are likely exceed 50 mph. Waves on the big lake could reach 15 feet by Tuesday night.
Temperatures will be cooler the remainder of the week with highs mostly in the 40s and 50s. Northern Minnesota will see highs perhaps only in the upper 30s Friday.
Overnight lows will be frosty for most come Friday and Saturday nights.
Warmer temps will be back by early next week with 60s again in southern Minnesota by Monday.
