Thursday will be soggy with rain lifting from south to north for much of the day. The sun returns Friday with the next chance of showers on Saturday before more sun returns Sunday.
Soggy Thursday, part of an active pattern
What you see is kind of what you get Thursday. A large area of rain will continue to lift from south to north through the day. The wettest period will be in the morning hours for southern Minnesota and Thursday afternoon and evening for northern Minnesota.
Total additional rainfall from this system will be greatest in southeastern Minnesota where up to 1 inch could fall. Northeastern Minnesota looks likely to see the least with amounts likely less than one-quarter inch.
The sun returns Friday and temperatures warm. Highs will be in the 60s for most with some near 70 in southern Minnesota. Temperatures will be cooler near Lake Superior. It will be windy though: southwest winds at 10-20 mph in southern Minnesota but 15-30 mph north.
The next chance of showers moves in late Friday night into Saturday. This system looks weaker with more or less spotty showers. Most places will receive under one-quarter inch of rain, primarily in the morning hours Saturday.
It’s then back to sunshine and warmth Sunday and most of Monday. Highs will be in the 70s Sunday and Monday for southern Minnesota, with 60s north mostly.
Monday night into early Tuesday could bring more thunderstorms.
