It’s been a classic spring so far across Minnesota. We’re getting our share of sunny days and more than ample rainfall. Soil moisture has recovered in much of the state. Ponds are brimming in many areas. We’re a far cry from last year when drought covered Minnesota.
The rest of this week looks quieter except for some potentially strong storms in southern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.
Below, check out the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3 km model. It blows up storm clusters from just south of the Twin Cities through Mankato, Waseca, Owatonna, Rochester, and Albert Lea to Winona Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Expect sunnier skies with only a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm Thursday through the upcoming Mother’s Day and fishing opener weekend.
Highs on Thursday run in the 60s in most areas:
Highs will warm into the 70s as we head through Friday in the south.
Saturday brings highs mostly in the 60s with northwest winds between 10 and 20 mph on the lakes for the fishing opener. Mother’s Day looks like the warmer day of the weekend. Widespread 70s will feel like summer.
