Scattered showers and storms will move through the region Friday. The holiday weekend will bring a mix of clouds and sun, near normal temperatures and isolated to spotty rain chances.
Scattered showers and storms Friday
Morning showers and thunderstorms will continue to track north and northeast. Northern Minnesota will see scattered showers through much of Friday while southern Minnesota will get a dry break with some afternoon sunshine.
Scattered storms will redevelop across southeastern Minnesota into western Wisconsin, mainly along and east of Interstate 35. A couple of those storms could be strong but are not expected to be severe, generally.
High temperatures will be warmer in southern Minnesota, where sun will break out later in the day. Highs in southern Minnesota will be in the low 70s, while northern Minnesota sees highs in the 50s and 60s.

Winds will increase behind the cool front sweeping through and switch from the southeast to west at 15-30 mph across the state.
Spotty weekend chances for rain, seasonable temps
Saturday looks like the nicest day of the holiday weekend with the most sunshine and drier conditions. Sunday is looking to be potentially the least pleasant with scattered showers developing, more clouds and cooler temps as a result.
Memorial Day will see a few isolated to spotty showers or a thunderstorm.
Here’s the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model showing the hit and miss nature of the showers this weekend:
Temperatures will be pretty seasonable, mostly in the 60s and low to mid-70s. It will be the coolest Memorial Weekend since 2021, however.
The last two years have brought highs well into the 80s and even 90 degrees. The hottest was 2018 when we reached 100 degrees in the Twin Cities on Memorial Day, our hottest for the holiday.
