Clear, quiet Wednesday night before next system arrives

We’ll enjoy a few more hours of clear skies and quiet weather Wednesday night before clouds roll into western Minnesota Thursday morning. It won’t be quite as chilly as early Wednesday morning, but lows will still dip into the upper 30s in northeastern Minnesota.

There’s another frost advisory for late Wednesday night into early Thursday for portions of northeastern Minnesota.

Thursday will be warmer before clouds and showers roll in. High will be in the upper 70s for the Twin Cities and southeastern Minnesota.

Showers will push into western Minnesota in the afternoon Thursday and spread east statewide Thursday night into Friday.

There’s a marginal risk (leve 1 of 5) of severe weather for southwest Minnesota Thursday. One or two storms could briefly turn strong to severe.

Most areas will see under 1 inch of rainfall as there won’t be a lot in the way of thunderstorm activity. Southwest Minnesota, which could see some thunder, has the best chance of heavier rainfall amounts.

The weekend will bring warmer temps with highs near 80 degrees for southern Minnesota and isolated thunder chances. The next more significant system develops Sunday into Sunday night with the potential for heavier rainfall as we’ll see more thunderstorms.

Next week looks very summerlike overall with highs in the 80s and active weather continuing. It’s fitting since meteorological summer begins Saturday!
