Get ready for another round of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall potential Tuesday afternoon and evening. It will be followed by drier and cooler air along with wind Wednesday.
Storms develop Tuesday afternoon, evening
It will be another steamy day Tuesday with highs reaching back into the low 80s for southern Minnesota and muggy dew points in the 60s to near 70.
A cold front will take full advantage of the warm, humid air and produce thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Some of those storms could be strong to severe. There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather for much of Minnesota Tuesday. The main threats are damaging wind gusts and large hail. A brief tornado is always possible in severe storms.

As cooler and drier air moves in overnight Tuesday night behind the cool front, we’ll see overnight lows dip into the more comfortable 50s mostly.
Wednesday will be cooler but still warm with highs mostly in the 70s.
Dew points will drop Tuesday night into Wednesday behind the cool front.
West winds will blow at 10-25 mph Wednesday with higher gusts and it will remain elevated through Friday.
We’ll start out sunny, but with cooler air moving in aloft clouds will build back in with spotty showers and a couple thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon for mostly central and northern Minnesota.
Thursday will be cooler yet with highs just reaching 70 degrees in the Twin Cities with 60s and even a few 50s for afternoon highs in far northern Minnesota.
We should also see a chance to dry out with mostly dry weather the rest of the week into early next week after Wednesday.
