It should be dry for most of the state for most of the day, but rain will push into western Minnesota late and spread east and statewide into Friday. The weekend continues to look dry and cooler.
Rain late Thursday into Friday; dry weekend
Clouds will be on the increase Thursday ahead of the next round of rain and some thunder. High temperatures will be in the 70s statewide.
Scattered showers and some thunder will push into far western Minnesota later Thursday and spread statewide Thursday night into Friday. It won’t be a steady, pouring rain but rather scattered in nature. That will be the first round.
The second round of activity will be storms that redevelop later in the afternoon Friday ahead of a cool front.

The rainfall doesn’t look to be as heavy as some recent deluges have been either. Most of us should see under 1 inch of rain, but any rain right now is unwelcome in southern Minnesota.
There could be some locally heavier amounts in some thunderstorms we’ll need to monitor, especially with the late-day redevelopment of storms Friday.
Here’s one forecast model hinting at some heavier amounts:
The weekend continues to look mostly dry and cooler. Temperatures will be below normal, mostly in the low to mid-70s with even 60s in northern Minnesota.
Next week will bring some rain and thunder chances again late Monday and potentially midweek, but overall the pattern continues to be one with less frequent heavy rains.
