Periods of rain, thunder into Friday; dry weekend
Rain showers will continue to fill in and track east across southern Minnesota and fill in more tonight north. This will be round one of light to moderate rain showers.
We’ll get a midday break Friday with perhaps a few peeks of sunshine, which will help to develop more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening Friday.
A couple of storms that do develop Friday could turn strong to severe. There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather Friday into Friday night across far southern Minnesota with a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk elsewhere.

The weekend continues to look dry although cooler than normal with highs mostly in the 70s. Northern Minnesota likely will only see highs in the 60s Saturday.
The next chance of thunder develops late Monday for the first day of July.
