A couple of storms that do develop Friday could turn strong to severe. There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather Friday into Friday night across far southern Minnesota with a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk elsewhere.

While most of us should see about an inch or less of rainfall in southern Minnesota there could be locally heavier amounts in some of the thunderstorms later in the day. Northern Minnesota looks most likely to see more widespread rainfall over an inch or slightly more.

We’ll have to watch for locally heavier rainfall amounts. There are a couple forecast models pushing out some localized 2 to 3 inch rainfalls, which if they occur in parts of southern Minnesota could be concerning.

Where any heavier rains set up will be critical as rivers are near their highest levels and additional rainfall could cause them to go up yet again this weekend into next week.
