We may finally be drying out across most of Minnesota in the next week to 10 days.

Monday morning’s storm system is just the latest in a series that produced heavy rain, hail and severe winds across much of southern Minnesota. There is still cleanup in progress from the weekend overnight severe storms that raced down Interstate 94 into the Twin Cities.

The severe weather risk has shifted mainly southeast of the Twin Cities Monday night. A possible severe cluster may form in Iowa and race toward Chicago Monday night.

Drying out

There’s good news for storm-weary Minnesotans. A drier weather pattern is emerging this week. Overall rainfall chances look spotty for the next week to 10 days.

Monday’s European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model puts out less than three-tenths of an inch of rain around the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota over the next 10 days!

A cool front will blow in much cooler and less humid air by Tuesday.

The map below shows the dew point output from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale System model. Watch the humid air get shoved south by drier northwest breezes as dew points fall into the comfy 40s and 50s.
