We’ll have scattered morning storms with possible redevelopment in southeastern Minnesota later Monday. Tuesday will usher in cooler and drier air with dry conditions the rest of the week.
Scattered storms Monday; dry, cooler air follows
Scattered storms brought down trees and dumped hail in parts of western Minnesota early Monday.
A semitrailer truck was blown off State Highway 29 near De Graff, northwest of Willmar. A 63-mph wind gust was clocked in Olivia in Renville County. There were also numerous 1-inch hail reports with golf ball-size hail reported in Prinsburg in Kandiyohi County.
Southern Minnesota will see scattered morning storms with more storms redeveloping in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin potentially late Monday afternoon and evening.

There’s a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather for most of central, southern and eastern Minnesota with a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for the far southeastern corner of the state.
All of the action Sunday night and Monday is the result of an advancing cool front. That front will bring in much drier and more comfortable air Monday night. Dew points will drop from near 70 to the 50s by Tuesday.
Overnight lows Monday night will drop into the 50s and 60s.
Highs Tuesday will be in the 70s for most of the state with even cooler readings possible in far northern Minnesota.
The rest of the week looks quiet and dry with gradually warmer temperatures. Highs will be back in the mid-80s by the weekend.
