Temperatures in the low 80s will become more widespread this afternoon in Minnesota. Dew points will also increase heading into the weekend also increasing spotty thunder chances.
Temps, dew points rise; spotty thunder chance
Temperatures will continue to tick up a little bit more Friday afternoon. Highs will be in the low 80s for much of the state with slightly warmer readings in the Red River Valley in northwestern Minnesota.
Dew points will also be increasing as winds switch on the back side of cool high pressure. We’ll see south breezes develop Friday. By the end of the day you’ll notice the air being a bit more sticky as dew points climb into the 60s.
That increase in moisture means we’ll see some spotty thunder mainly in northern and western Minnesota Friday, but the chance will expand statewide over the weekend into early next week.
Temperatures look to slowly continue the trend upward next week and we may be dealing with some heat for the final days of July.
