Storms Monday night into Tuesday
Showers and thunderstorms continue Monday night into Tuesday. Higher precipitable water amounts exist so rainfall amounts could exceed 1 inch, where convection occurs.
Precipitable water is the amount of moisture our atmosphere is holding with the amount being what we could get if we squeezed out every last drop.
Cooler temps Wednesday; dry, hotter weekend
We will see a cold front move through southern Minnesota on Tuesday. Showers and storms for Tuesday are expected along and south of Interstate 94. This front will give way to cooler highs for Wednesday.
Temperatures behind the front are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s. Southwestern Minnesota and the Red River Valley region in northwestern Minnesota could still see a few low to mid-80s.
High pressure building in for Wednesday will bring dry, stable weather conditions. A return of southerly flow will usher in warmer temperatures for the weekend. High temperatures expected to return to the mid to upper 80s. Chances for 90s remain likely.
