A cool front moving across the state will touch off more spotty storms Tuesday but bring a drop in dew points for Wednesday. That will set us up for drier and brighter weather.
More spotty storms Tuesday, then drier and brighter
Tuesday will be warm still in southern Minnesota with highs near 80 and muggy dew points. A cool front will already be dividing the state with highs just in the upper 60s to around 70 in northeastern Minnesota.
That cool front will be the focus for more spotty showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, especially for the southern half of the state.
Behind the front, dew points will drop giving way to several days of dry weather and sunshine Wednesday into Saturday. Dew points will creep back up Friday into the weekend.
High pressure also settles in Wednesday through Friday making for sunshine and dry weather.
Some heat will be moving in for our last weekend of July with a shot at reaching 90 degrees one or both days of the weekend.
We could be in for a prolonged stretch of steamy weather. Most models agree on keeping temperatures in the upper 80s, perhaps close to the 90 degree mark at times into next week as we begin August.
