Pleasant and dry next several days with heat for the weekend

High pressure out of Canada is bringing several days of mostly dry weather and plenty of sunshine. Wednesday will be cooler than normal but heat is moving in for the weekend.

High pressure brings dry weather, sunshine 

A pleasant Wednesday is in store for most of Minnesota. Look for dry conditions and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be just a bit below normal, mostly in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees in the Red River Valley.

A comfortable overnight is on the way with clear skies. Lows will fall into the upper 40s in northeastern Minnesota to low 60s in western Minnesota.

Thursday will be mostly sunny and a little warmer already. Highs will be in the low 80s with mid-80s in western Minnesota.

Winds will be switching already Thursday to be out of the south and southeast. That will quickly bring back the muggy air by Friday and it will be sticking around.

Hotter temperatures are moving by the end of the week into the weekend as an upper-level ridge, or heat dome expands east.

Highs will be near 90 Saturday and Sunday and potentially into much of next week.

Get used to the hotter pattern. It looks to stick around into early August. All forecast models keep us well above normal for temperatures through at least the first few days of August.
