NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a second severe thunderstorm watch for much of central and northeast Minnesota until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The first watch for parts of western and central Minnesota remains in effect until 7 p.m.
The second watch covers areas east of the initial watch including Duluth and the Iron Range communities.

210 PM CDT Wed Jul 31 2024 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northeast Minnesota Far Northwest Wisconsin Lake Superior
* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 210 PM until 700 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...A well-organized, bowing complex of thunderstorms should continue to pose a threat for mainly severe/damaging winds up to around 65-75 mph as it moves quickly east-northeastward this afternoon and early evening. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles northwest of Hibbing MN to 75 miles south southwest of Duluth MN.
