Friday brought our 6th day of 90-degree heat in the Twin Cities and many locations in MInnesota.
Even Grand Marais steamed in 91 degrees at the weather station on the Bay right on the harbor between the North House Folk School and the campground!
Minnesota is riding the eastern edge of a steamy heat dome producing temperatures over 100 degrees across the Northern Rockies.

A cold front will ease south through Minnesota Saturday. Highs will be near 90 degrees across much of central and western Minnesota Saturday with 80s as you move north.
As the front sags southward, it will spark scattered thunderstorms. The heat and humidity in the air on Saturday will fuel the storms.
NOAA’s HRRR model paints scattered storms drifting southward Saturday. The forecast model loop below runs between noon Saturday and midnight Sunday.
Other forecast models focus the strongest storms across western Minnesota.
Highs Sunday behind the front will be several degrees cooler. Highs will hover in the 70s up north Sunday!

A cooler northwest flow looks to dominate most of next week. Temperatures will run several degrees cooler than normal for early August.

Air quality this weekend looks good, but there will be some smoke aloft. We’ll have to keep an eye out for wildfire smoke next week with the northwest flow pattern.
