Rain chances will continue through the evening in Minnesota before high pressure builds in. Clearing skies and cooler temperatures are in the forecast for Tuesday before another system moves in by Wednesday.
Rain ends early Tuesday
A low-pressure system moving across South Dakota into northern Iowa Monday night will bring continued stratiform rain showers. Rain will begin to let up late Monday into early Tuesday morning as high pressure builds in.
Preliminary rain totals show 1 to 2.5 inches have fallen across areas from Alexandria to the Twin Cities.
A slight risk for severe weather remains for portions of southern Minnesota. Warmer temperatures in the lower to mid-80s may spark a few stronger storms. The main potential threats would be large hail and damaging winds.
Temperatures Monday night will fall into the lower 50s north, and upper 50s to low 60s for central and southern Minnesota.
Sunny Tuesday; rain chances rise Wednesday
We will see decreasing cloud cover early in the day Tuesday. Sunshine with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
A small disturbance will propagate through the Upper Midwest on Wednesday, bringing partly cloudy skies and additional rain chances. The best chance for rain will be in parts of northern Minnesota.
