We find ourselves checking the calendar after this prolonged, cooler weather pattern. 70 degree highs are typical for September, not early August. A full weekend of fall-like conditions expected. Our highs today will climb into the lower to mid 70s. Some upper 60s for northeastern Minnesota, with a bit more cloud cover.
Low temperatures once again drop into the upper 40s to low 50s across the state. The metro area will see lows in the mid 50s.

Winds continue to ramp up this afternoon out of the northwest. Wind gusts over 20 mph possible once again. Some fair weather cumulus clouds will develop throughout the day as well.
Increasing cloud cover; isolated showers possible Sunday
A small disturbance will propagate to the southwest of Minnesota for Sunday. This wrinkle in our atmosphere will cause some increased cloud cover late for central through southern Minnesota. Isolated rain chances are possible for areas south of Interstate 94.
Highs will be a few degrees warmer on Sunday. Look for temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
It’s the return of summer!
Next week features a more active weather pattern. We will tap into a southerly flow, increasing our temperatures and bringing more humid conditions back to the Upper Midwest. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s with dewpoints crawling back into the 60s and even 70s.
Perseid meteor shower
This weekend the Perseid meteor shower will bring a shooting star show to the state. The Perseid meteor shower will peak Sunday night into the pre-dawn hours on Monday. Make sure to get away from city lights, and look towards the north.
