Our streak of 70 degrees days has ended with 80s returning to the forecast. Our next system moves in Wednesday into Thursday, increasing our shower and thunderstorm chances. A brief cooldown to end the week.
For the past seven days we have been hanging out in the 70s. Those type of temperatures are reminiscent of September fall days and not August.
Monday afternoon we finally saw the Twin Cities hit the low 80s. 81 is our seasonal average for this time of the year. Look for another day in the 80s for Tuesday, featuring partly sunny skies and quiet weather conditions.
Low pressure system sneaks in mid-week
Our next weather maker will be making it’s way out of the Rockies by Wednesday, as our high pressure system exits to our east. Southerly flow will develop between these two pressure systems, increasing our moisture levels.

Dewpoints will return to the 60s and even 70s for southern Minnesota. Temperatures remain in the upper 70s to low 80s Wednesday.
Widespread rainfall will start early Wednesday in western Minnesota before propagating eastward and reaching the Twin Cities by Wednesday late afternoon/early evening.
Rainfall amounts could range from 0.25” to 0.50” with locally higher amounts possible.
Showers and thunderstorms carrying into Thursday with this slower moving system. Our temperatures take a little dip back into the mid to upper 70s for Thursday and Friday, with a bit more cloud cover.

Mother nature gave us a double feature last night with the Northern Lights and Perseids making an appearance. Multiple viewings of these spectacular features came flooding into MPR News.
