Meteorological fall begins on Sunday, September 1. And it appears the weather maps are in sync with the meteorological calendar this year.

A series of cool fronts will sweep south from Canada and usher in cooler and drier air over the next several days. Wednesday brings less humidity with highs in the 70s.

A cold front arrives Thursday with another chance for showers and a few thunderstorms.

NOAA’s paints a marginal risk (category 1 of 5) for a severe storm across much of Minnesota on Thursday. A slight (category 2 of 5) risk zone covers much of southern Minnesota.
