Nice Wednesday; more showers, thunder Thursday
After an intensely hot day Monday and storms Monday night into early Tuesday, we can enjoy a decent day Wednesday with afternoon sunshine and mainly dry weather.
Morning clouds and areas of fog (with isolated, patchy mist) will decrease giving way to partly cloudy skies. Highs will range from the low 80s southwest to just the upper 60s in northeastern Minnesota.
The dry break won’t last long. More showers and thunderstorms develop Thursday ahead of a second cool front.

Northwestern Minnesota will likely see some morning activity with a line of storms developing later in the afternoon from the Minnesota-Iowa border all the way up to the Minnesota-Canada border. Those storms will then sweep east into the evening Thursday.
It will be warm and humid Thursday, adding fuel to potential storms. Highs will be well into the 80s across southern Minnesota.
There’s also slight risk (level 2 of 5) of severe potential for central and southern Minnesota late Thursday. The biggest threats will be from damaging wind gusts and large hail, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.
This second cool front of the week will finally drop dew points across southern Minnesota. In the meantime, it will be muggy Wednesday and fairly humid again Thursday as dew points climb to near 70 ahead of the front. The front will push in dew points in the 50s for Friday.
After Thursday, we’re in for a gorgeous stretch of weather with more comfortable, dry air and lots of sunshine. Friday and Saturday will be seasonable for temperatures but cooler air will drop temps more for Sunday and Labor Day.
