We’ll have some lingering clouds and showers early Thursday, but clouds will decrease in the wake of an incoming cold front. Cooler air arrives for Friday and Saturday.
Decreasing clouds, breezy Thursday with chillier air Friday and Saturday
Lingering showers and thunder will push east and south Thursday morning. Most of us will see decreasing clouds into Thursday afternoon. There could be a few ‘pop-up’ showers later in the afternoon and evening again.
Highs Thursday won’t be really cool just yet. Southern Minnesota will see afternoon highs in the 70s while northern Minnesota will see 60s. We’ll also have a northwest breeze at 10-15 mph.
An air quality alert continues for northwest Minnesota through Thursday morning.

A reinforcing shot of cooler air moves in for Friday and Saturday. Highs Friday will be just in the 60s south and only the 50s in northeast Minnesota.
In addition, with lingering instabilty (cold air aloft), we’ll see a few spotty showers Friday.
That’s setting us up for a chilly Friday night. Parts of the Iron Range will see frost while southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities, will see lows in the 40s. We haven’t slipped below 50 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul international airport since May 25.
The weekend will start cool, with highs in the 60s Saturday but it warms up quickly for Sunday with highs mostly in the 70s again. Both days will be dry with sunshine.
Above-normal, summerlike temperatures return early next week. In fact, it will be in the mid 80s for the southern part of Minnesota by midweek potentially. Those readings are 10 degrees above normal.
