A cool Friday sets us up for the coolest night in a few months

The coolest air since May is here. Highs Friday and Saturday will be below normal with a chilly Friday night. Areas of frost are possible for northeastern Minnesota before we warm up. 

Coolest night in months; much warmer next week

The much-advertised coolest air mass since May has arrived! Highs Friday will be in the 60s for most, although portions of the Arrowhead will not get out of the 50s. A couple of spots in western Minnesota will still reach 70.

We’ll have a mix of clouds and sun in the east with brighter skies west. An area of clouds from northern Minnesota will drift south midday.

A few lingering showers in those clouds could also hold together. The best chances of a few showers will be in northern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Skies clear out and winds will be calm, making for a chilly overnight. Lows will be in the 30s across northeast Minnesota with 40s elsewhere. It will be the coolest night since June or May for most.

The last time we slipped below 50 in the Twin Cities was May 25. Patchy frost will be possible on the Iron Range.

Saturday will be on the cooler side again but with dry conditions and partly cloudy skies. Sunday will be considerably warmer already with mostly sunny skies.

Next week will be mostly dry with plenty of sun and summerlike temperature returning. In fact, parts of west-central and southwestern Minnesota may even reach 90 degrees midweek.
