One last muggy day Thursday ahead of some potentially strong afternoon storms
Spotty early morning thunderstorms will push through and diminish by early to mid-morning. It will be followed by yet another very warm and muggy day Thursday. Highs will be back in the 80s with dew points in the 60s.
This will be the last day of this warm and humid weather for a while. A cool front is sweeping across Minnesota and will touch off some potentially strong to severe storms late this afternoon and evening.
Storms that do develop could be severe. There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe storms across much of the eastern half of Minnesota into western Wisconsin.
Friday will be just slightly cooler behind the front with highs in the low 80s in southern Minnesota, but it will be noticeably less muggy. The day should be mostly dry, too.
Saturday looks to be warm again with highs near 80, but the next storm system will develop showers some time late Saturday or Sunday and into Monday. That system will bring more rainfall but also cooler temperatures that will finally be near normal. Highs will be just in the 60s to low 70s Sunday into Tuesday.
