More comfortable and dry Friday with cooler air by Sunday

Friday will be dry, slightly cooler, but still warm. Dew points will be considerably lower making it more comfortable. Showers are possible over the weekend ahead of even cooler air.

Drier air is in place for Friday with cooler air and possible showers this weekend 

Friday will be very pleasant with much more comfortable, drier air in place. Dew points will be in the 50s mostly with some places in the 40s. It will still be warm with highs near 80 in southern Minnesota and 70s north.

Saturday will see a brief return of slightly muggier air, though not as humid as this week ahead of the next cold front. Behind the front, dew points will be much more fall-like for Sunday.

It will also be warm with highs in the low 80s. Considerably cooler air will already be pushing into northwest Minnesota.

Some showers and a few thunderstorms are possible ahead of the next cold front Saturday. Activity looks pretty spotty. Portions of southeast Minnesota could see a bit more rainfall.

Highs Sunday and Monday will be just in the 60s for most of the state, finally bringing temperatures closer to normal for this time of year.

The cool afternoon Sunday will set us up for a cool overnight Sunday night. Lows will fall into mainly the 40s with some 30s on the Iron Range. Temps in the urban heat island of the Twin Cities will likely hang onto around 50.

By mid to late week though we’re back into above-normal territory, well into the 70s. Some models even push us toward 80 degrees again by the end of the week.

The brief return to normal temperatures may just be a ‘hiccup’ in the overall pattern over the next couple of weeks. Both the 6 to 10 day and 8 to 14 day outlooks call for continued above normal temperatures over all and below normal precipitation. With that prospect, we’re likely to see the abnormally dry and potential drought conditions expand in Minnesota into early October.
