High pressure at the start of the work week will bring sunshine and above-seasonal temperatures. Expect 80-degree highs to return by the end of the week with no chances for precipitation in the forecast.

Potential frost outside metro

High pressure moving into the region will bring clear skies and calmer winds. Lows for Sunday night are expected to drop into the mid to upper 30s statewide, except for northeastern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area. The urban heat island effect will keep metro temperatures in the low 40s. Northeastern Minnesota has a frost advisory until 9 a.m. Monday as temperatures are expected to dip into the low 30s.

Calm and quiet

Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast this week. Temperatures warm on Monday into the 60s and even a few low 70s for southwestern Minnesota.

Highs will stay in the 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday before a southerly wind brings 80s back into the forecast.

Record-breaking temperatures are possible as we warm into the mid-80s on Friday. The record high of 85 degrees was set in 2015.

Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton is rapidly intensifying as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico. It is expected to become a major hurricane by the time it reaches the west coast of the Florida Peninsula midweek. Storm surge and hurricane watches are expected to be issued on Sunday night or early Monday.
