Sunny skies and anomalous warmth are the headlines yet again. We’ll be about 5 to 15 degrees above normal Tuesday with highs in the 60s and 70s. Eighty-degree readings return Thursday.
Temps continue to trend upward this week
It’s another seasonably cool start to the day, but afternoon highs will climb into the 70s across southern Minnesota, pushing temperatures 5 to 15 degrees above normal for Oct. 8. We’ll also have sunny skies with light winds.
It’s more of the same Wednesday with temperatures tacking on a few more degrees under sunny skies. We’ll likely see a few 80-degree readings in southwestern Minnesota.
The peak of the heat will arrive Thursday as high temperatures soar into the 80s across southern Minnesota.

A cool front will increase cloud cover Friday and drop temperatures back to seasonable levels for the weekend.
Northeastern Minnesota may even see a few lucky light rain showers Sunday as a clipper system brushes by.
The rainfall looks generally light but a couple of forecast models are hinting at isolated pockets of perhaps some decent amounts up to one-half inch of rainfall.
While the official forecast calls for highs in the low 60s Sunday and Monday right now, we may need to watch to see if the forecast trends cooler.
Most forecast models now have highs Sunday and Monday in the 50s even in southern Minnesota. These would be our chilliest readings yet this season and could set up southern Minnesota for widespread frost Sunday and/or Monday nights.
