The average date for the first temperatures of 32 degrees or lower in Minneapolis-St. Paul is Oct. 13. We came a bit warmer on Monday morning with a low of 35 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning across a large area:
It’s been a cold start to the work week, with temperatures staying below the seasonal average of 59 degrees for the Twin Cities. High temperatures on Tuesday warm into the lower to mid-50s, with plenty of sunshine and light winds.
Warming trend approaching
A shift in our weather pattern will bring southerly winds back to the Midwest by midweek. Winds will becoming breezy 10-20 mph. We’ll see 60s returning to western and southern Minnesota by Wednesday, and upper 60s and 70s by Thursday into Friday.
There’s only a slight chance of light showers in the forecast for late Friday night into Saturday. The latest forecast models indicate limited moisture, so our chances of precipitation appear minimal at best.
