It’s our last real cold, frosty morning as temperatures begin to climb into the end of the week. A disturbance Friday will bring a little light rain to mainly northern Minnesota into Saturday.
More sunshine and a return to above-normal temperatures
After a chilly and frosty few days, temperatures begin to warm up Wednesday. Highs will be near 60 in the Twin Cities Wednesday afternoon with low to mid-60s west. Northeast Minnesota will remain in the 50s. Everyone will see lots of sunshine.
Overnight lows won’t be nearly as cold as the last few nights, but there will still be patchy frost in pockets of northeast Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Thursday will be warmer with highs near 70, especially in southwest Minnesota.

Friday through Monday looks to bring highs in the low to mid-70s for southern Minnesota, which are about 15 to 20 degrees above normal. Peak warmth looks to be Sunday when highs could reach the mid to upper 70s for some spots in southern Minnesota.
A disturbance moves into Minnesota Friday into Saturday, bringing some light rain possibilities for mostly the northern half of the state.
The only areas that look to receive measurable rainfall are parts of northern Minnesota. Unfortunately, even there, rainfall is likely to be only a one-tenth of an inch or less.
The drought monitor update comes out early Thursday and is likely to show expansion of the drought for much of Minnesota, but also improvement in northeast Minnesota which saw weekend rainfall.
