Expect quiet, clear skies for Saturday evening before record-setting temperatures arrive on Sunday, with forecasted highs nearly 20 degrees above average.
Starry night
A stalled frontal boundary that brought a persistent cloud deck over central Minnesota and the metro on Saturday will dissipate overnight. Skies will clear as temperatures drop into the low to mid-50s, with mid-40s expected in northern areas.

Record temperatures
The record high temperature for the Twin Cities is 83 degrees, set in 1953, while St. Cloud's record is 81 degrees, also from that year. Both of these records could be broken on Sunday, as projected high temperatures climb into the low 80s.
The average high for October 19th is 57 degrees. Temperatures will remain mild through the beginning of the workweek, before cooler fall-like conditions return by Wednesday.
Warm weather continuing
Above-average temperatures are expected to continue on Monday and Tuesday, before a cooler airmass moves in for Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will drop back to the seasonal average in the mid-50s.
After a brief return to fall, our temperatures rebound back into the 70s by next weekend. It appears that more 80-degree temperatures are on the way, and the Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 day forecast supports this outlook.
