Partly sunny, sprinkles
The seasonal average for this time of year is 57 degrees. On Saturday, temperatures will climb to the upper 60s to low 70s in central and southern Minnesota, while northern areas will see cooler highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, still above their average for this time of year.
Cloud cover will linger with the frontal boundary, but clear skies are expected by tonight.
Very isolated to scattered sprinkles are possible early Saturday as the frontal boundary slowly moves through the state.
Lows will drop to around 52 degrees in the metro area, with low to mid-50s in the southern regions, and the 40s in northern Minnesota.
Record-breaking Sunday?
The record high temperature for Sunday is 83 degrees, set in 1953, while St. Cloud's record high is 81 degrees, also recorded in 1953. Forecasted high temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s are expected to approach those record highs.
These forecasted highs are typical for early September, not mid to late October. Temperatures will stay 10 to 20 degrees above average into early next week, before more seasonal conditions return mid-week, bringing 50s back into the forecast.
