Temperatures will be back to 20-30 degrees above normal with low 80s in southern Minnesota Monday afternoon. A cool front Tuesday will bring a light rain chance and cooler air for midweek.
More anomalous warmth Monday before a cool front arrives late Tuesday
We set a new record warm low temperature early Monday morning of a balmy 65 degrees. The old record warm low was 62 set in 1920.
It comes on the heels of Sunday’s near-record warmth and we’ll be close to that territory again Monday with highs in the low 80s for southern Minnesota. Highs will be in the 70s north.
A cool front Tuesday will move across the state late in the day. Ahead of the cool front we’ll squeeze out another very warm day with highs in the 70s across southern Minnesota. Cooler readings in the 50s will sneak into northwest Minnesota.
It will bring the chance of some scattered light rain showers, though most of the rain will fall in northern Minnesota into Tuesday night.
Highs Wednesday will return to normal levels for a day with highs mostly in the 50s and 40s. The normal high mid to late week ranges from 45 along the international border to 55 in southern Minnesota.
Temperatures will warm up a bit by the end of the week into the weekend. There remains no significant rainfall in sight unfortunately. Both the 6-10 day and 8-14 day temperature outlooks continue to call for a high likelihood of above-normal temperatures continuing.
