We’re scanning the Doppler radar for rain these days. A cold front crossing Minnesota Tuesday will bring some scattered rain favoring the northern half of Minnesota.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s FV3 model shows the scattered rain cells favoring central and northern Minnesota, but a few cells could clip the Twin Cities area Tuesday afternoon.
Overall rainfall totals look light, but a few lucky spots in far northern Minnesota could pick up one-quarter of an inch of rain Tuesday.
Otherwise, this looks like another mostly dry week. The last time the Twin Cities had soaking rain was late August. Overall, rainfall defects in the Upper Midwest are running more than 4 inches in much of the region.
Highs on Tuesday will be in the 50s in the far northwest, with 70s central and south.
Wednesday looks dry but much cooler, with highs in the 40s north to 50s south.
Thursday brings highs mainly in the 60s south and 50s north.
