Fluctuating temperatures are anticipated this week as two cold fronts move through the region. Wednesday and Friday will be the only days in the forecast where temperatures return to seasonal values, with chances for precipitation accompanying both fronts.
Not one, but two cold fronts
What I love about Minnesota weather is that if you don’t like it, just wait 24 hours! This week, we've experienced a mix of summer and fall, breezy and calm conditions, as well as sunny and cloudy skies.
The forecast simulated radar below indicates the first of two cold fronts moving through the region. This system will bring rain showers to northern Minnesota, with potential trace amounts in central Minnesota, before it moves toward the eastern Great Lakes.
Tuesday’s temperatures climb into the 60s and 70s for central, eastern and southern Minnesota ahead of a cold front approaching from southeastern Manitoba.

Cold front No. 2 will move through on Thursday, providing the rest of Minnesota with a chance for some much-needed rainfall.
Winds will pick up with the temperature change and front, gusting out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Which month is it?
With such fluctuating temperatures, you might find yourself checking the calendar now and then to keep track! On Sunday and Monday, we experienced Augustlike temperatures in the 80s followed by highs in the 70s on Tuesday.
Cooler 50s will return to the forecast for Wednesday and Friday behind the fronts, while the 60s will make an appearance on Thursday. It’s a little bit of everything this week.
