Well, here’s something we haven’t seen in a while. It’s been eight weeks since Aug. 29, the last time the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota has seen significant rain. Since then, the Twin Cities has recorded just 0.06 of an inch of rainfall.
Our rain won’t be heavy Thursday night, but it should settle the dust for a little while.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3km model (above) shows showers moving across Minnesota Thursday afternoon through the evening. Most of the rain in the Twin Cities will fall between about 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Rainfall totals look light overall with many locations getting one-quarter inch or less, but a few swaths may pick up as much as one-half inch by late Thursday night.

Cooler temperatures follow the front Thursday night. Lows by morning will dip into the 30s north and 40s south.
Highs Friday and Saturday will run in the 50s south with some 40s north.
Saturday brings a frosty morning to most of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.
So far, the coldest temperatures this season at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has been 34 degrees on Oct. 16. We may challenge that number Saturday morning around the Twin Cities.
The weekend looks pretty nice overall with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 50s Saturday and 60s Sunday.
